Ali Eslami

Distinguished Research Scientist

Ali Eslami is a Distinguished Research Scientist at Google DeepMind studying artificial intelligence. He contributes to Gemini’s search, agentic and reasoning capabilities and created the initial prototype (codename ‘Neural Google’) that led to the creation of Google Search AI Mode. Prior to Gemini, he led the DL:X team at DeepMind (working mostly on generative models, self-supervised learning, multi-modal large language models). He also led the Quantum Chemistry and Materials team in Science (working mostly on Density Functional Theory and a few downstream applications).
